Antwerp <=> Barcelona intermodal connection opens for P400 frigo trailers

Success of test performed on 8-10 November 2022

It’s the first P400 frigo trailer ever run over the rails between Belgium and Spain. The vehicle owned by Logista Freight has left the Antwerp Combinant terminal on 8.11.2022 on a Hupac train and arrived in Barcelona El Morrot some 48 hours later.

As a result of this test, Hupac opens this relation for frigo trailers which play an important role in logistics from/to Spain. “We can now offer P400 intermodal transport solutions for the agriculture and pharmaceutical industry and actively contribute to the modal shift from road to rail”, explains Maurice Pallone, Area Manager of Hupac Intermodal. The offer is also extended to the Hupac service between Perpignan PSCCT and Antwerp Combinant, but vehicle admission is subject to prior verification.

We wish to thank all partners who have contributed to the success of this test: Logista Freight as transport company, Fret SNCF as rail company, as well as the terminals El Morrot in Barcelona and Combinant in Antwerp.
